The Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was established in 1923 as the Bibliographic Bureau under the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Society. On August 19, 1925, by the decision of the Presidium of this Society, the Library and Bibliographic Bureau was established. At present, the Central Scientific Library, the largest scientific library of Azerbaijan, has a rich universal book fund on natural, technical and humanities sciences, which amounts to almost 2 million documents in more than 50 languages of the world.

The collection of the Central Scientific Library contains unique documents: copies of newspapers of the war years and post-war publications, in which leading scientists and public figures of Azerbaijan published their research results on archival documents and their personal reflections on the contribution of the Azerbaijani people to the victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The Azerbaijan State Cinema Fund has provided documentary footage of the war veterans on Victory Day in May 1945.
